Construction Updates Again
Ok, boys and ghouls, a big update today. We are making serious progress on the Texas Chainsaw Village and Pinhead is working on a new mask.

First the construction updates. Today's biggest priority was to build a set of stairs to get the victims into the new Texas Chainsaw Village.

Here are a couple of shots from the top platform.

We've also added a new bridge and a creek that will be filled with water before we're finished.

We also cleared out an area for a new dark maze. This will be after the new Saw scene and before the Texas Chainsaw Village.

Someone needs to let Leatherface know that his new basement scene isn't finished and ready for him to move in yet, he's already hanging up meat.

Pinhead is also working on a new mask for this season as well. The casting session for the mold took place this weekend.

First step is a bald cap.

Then we begin applying the alginate.

Next, a coat of plaster and bandages for a mother mold.

The result is a negative of the subject's face.

They couldn't resist making a plaster pull from the mold just to see how the mold was going to work.

See you next week, the time is drawing near; we can smell your fear.

A brief build team update plus horror movie news
Just a brief build team today. We had a limited crew today (just me) due to other commitments.

I did manage to finish the siding on Leatherface's house and to frame out a door on another of the buildings.

There is some exciting news somewhat related to Fear Fair, though. Several of our characters are getting new movies. Michael Myers got his turn last year with Rob Zombie's remake of the Halloween franchise. In 2009, Jason, Pinhead and Freddy are getting their turn.

On January 9, 2009 the new Hellraiser movie will be released from Dimension. Clive Barker, the writer from the original movie is onboard and it's in pre-production now. I don't believe Pinhead has been cast just yet... I suppose there's still a chance Doug Bradley could jump onboard. It's a bummer for us, since the original release was to be September 25th, 2008 which would have been a great season kick-off for us.

Then, on February 13th, 2009 (Friday of course) I, er I mean Jason, finally gets his turn. Warner Bros and director Marcus Nispel will release a remake of Friday the 13th. Michael Bay is directing, and Derek Mears (The Hills Have Eyes 2) is playing Jason. This guy looks evil without the hockey mask.

A couple of photos of Jason got leaked last week, but the studio asked the sites to take them down. We have them here, though.

Then, in November of next year, it's Freddy's turn. Michael Bay is directing this one, too and a writer just signed on; Wesley Strick. He has quite a few horror movies to his credit including Arachnaphobia, Cape Fear, Wolf and Glass House. Unfortunately, Robert Englund has already turned down the role... not sure how anyone will be able to step into those boots. The 25th anniversary of the original film is November, 2009, so the studio is pushing for a release by then. Personally, I would like to see it happen prior to our 2009 season!!!

More progress on Texas Chainsaw Village
Today we made more progress on the Texas Chainsaw Village. We started out by working on our 'curb appeal'. We have skinned the outside of the fence to form a facade. This will get many more details before we're finished.

The two story building is rising in the middle of the village. This will be getting a skin of barn wood over the next week or so. Leatherface's shop will be inside.

Plus, we made a new friend. He was hiding behind some tin we had in front of the new ticket booth.
